This was at the Hilton's rooftop/ocean front pool! We wrapped Gavin up in a towel afterwards! It was a very warm day(high 90's); but the water was cold and there was a breeze!

Busy Summer!!

Hey Everyone! My have we been busy this summer!! I can’t believe it’s almost September!! I’m going to update you on where we are right now.. Gavin is almost 8 1/2 months old, can you believe it!!?? What a sweet boy that God has blessed us with! Gavin hit so many milestones most happened when he was 7 months… he’s learned how to: sit up all by himself, to crawl (7/18), he learned how to pull himself into a standing position; he got his first two teeth, and he had his first visit to the ER! What an amazing time in his life!! He’s also been saying mama and dada!!! and sings along in the car, and when I sing to him at night! It’s so precious! He still loves Radio Head and that will quiet him instantly if he’s upset. Gavin is soo close to standing up all by himself; right now, he stands with one leg and kneels on the other (as you can see in his video)! He took his first step today!!!! Oh, and his top teeth are very, very close!

So, the ER visit, let me begin by saying how awful it is to have to take your child there. We went to Port Warwick which is amazingly efficient and we were in and out in under 2 hrs!! So, Gavin and I (Katie) were in the kitchen. I was working with some meat on the countertop and Gavin was behind me on the floor. My best guess is that he tried to pull up on the stove and fell down and hit his head; quite a common occurrence in the life of a “creeper”. I wasn’t too worried at first; I picked him up and within two minutes he was vomiting, all over the place (I have to say that it didn’t really bother me tho; I guess it really is different when it’s your own child!!). So, I spoke with the pediatrician on call (dr baust!); and he recommended we go to the ER, which is what I was thinking, I guess I just needed some reassurance! Before we could even get out of the house/ driveway, Gavin threw up another 6 times. Gavin had a CT scan in the ER and everything looked good!!! YAY!!

It has been such a busy yet fun summer!! In June, we went to OBX with Josh’s family (Gavin’s first road trip!). In July, we went home to PA (Gavin’s first trip to PA!) In August, we had lost of visitors and it was very fun!! Jon and Kristin (with Grace, Matt, and Nate) were here the same weekend that Uncle Charlie, Aunt Kathy, Aunt Teresa and “Aunt” Cindy were here!! Char, Kath, Teresa and Cindy all had rooms at the Hilton; which they were incredibly generous and allowed us to use the rooftop pool and saved us seats at the beach too!! Wade and Diana and 2 of their boys visited us this weekend! And Aunt Patty and Aunt Teresa are coming next weekend; and the following weekend Josh’s parents will be visiting!

Exersaucer Fun

Gavin is finally tall enough for his exersaucer! This is only a taste of how much he loves to talk when he's playing in it!! I believe that Gavin can say mom, and mah! It's a good way to get me out of bed in the morning!! We're going to start working on dada now!

Sweet Baby Giggles :)

Gavin started giggling a week or two ago.. this is the first time we caught it on video!! We've had a little setback with sleeping in the crib! It's pretty hit or miss!! So, sometimes he's in the swing and sometimes in the crib! Oh well, at least we're making progress! I'll try to post some Aunt Patty pics later in the week!

Gavin's New Trick!!

We are soo pround of him!! I saw him roll over for the first time today! He figured out what to do with the hand he's laying on too!! We're pretty sure that he probably started last night in his crib.. that would explain how he got from one side to the other! He's been soo close to rolling over for a long time now!! I'm soo excited that he hit this "milestone". We've been a little concerned that he doesn't get enough tummy/back time with his reflux! I guess he proved us wrong! AND he's slept in his CRIB the past three nights! The first night he slept 3 hrs, the second he slept 5 hrs, and last night he got back to his normal 10 hrs!!!! He slept in his chair in his room for a few days before he totally resisted the idea and screamed and would try to throw himself out of his chair! So, we thought it was time to try the crib; which works really well, he rolls onto his side and he hasn't had any reflux issues yet! We're still using his zantac and his rice cereal and those seem to help too!

A Week Full of "Firsts"!

Wow!! Gavin has had a lot of "firsts" this past week!! (I'll try to add some more pics later!)
* First night sleeping in his own room, and he has been ever since!!! He's such a sweet baby!! He's been going 11 hours w/o eating at night!! We're soo proud of him!! He no longer sleeps in his swing; he's getting too strong! He now sleeps in his vibrating chair; w/o vibration (too many batteries to replace!!) We're hoping that he sleep laying down soon! His rice cereal has seemed to help with his reflux or his stomach is just maturing. He still chokes and gags after laying down.. so, we'll get there eventually!
* First time staying in the nursery! Only during our Sunday School; he's getting too distracting! We still took him to the contemporary service with us! We're/ I'm not quite ready to leave him for two services yet!!
* Mommy's first day back to work! It's going well! Gavin really likes to watch/ listen to the other kids!!
* First time taking a bath in the upstairs bath tub!! He's still using his infant tub, just no longer in the kitchen sink (he's started to learn that he can kick and splash!!) It's much more enjoyable for him upstairs!!
* First time eating cereal!! Which he loves and now opens his mouth for when he sees the spoon and when he's ready!! Of course he disliked it at first; but he quickly decided that this was something that he could get used too!!

First Cereal

Gavin ate his first cereal today! He's been so unhappy (screaming) when we burp him or he finishes eating; so, we thought we'd start some cereal (He's taking 4-6 bottles with 6-7 ounces each)! We tried cereal (in his bottle) after his two month appt. because his dr thought it would help with his reflux; but it seemed to not agree with him!! We'll see how it goes this time around! His weight gain has slowed down a little; we'll check again officially at his 4 month appt! I'm thinking he might be 13lbs by then, but maybe not! Hopefully, all of his summer clothes won't be too big!! We definitely can tell that he's growing in length! His little feet are at the bottom of his car seat already! Right now, Gavin's fav thing to do is standing! He gives the BIGGEST smiles when he's standing!! I'm (Katie) still recovering from the flu or food posioning (10 of us got sick so far); and praying that Gavin doesn't get sick! There are more pics on my FB. :)

We Miss You Aunt Teresa!!

After about 6 weeks of visiting, we had to say good bye to Aunt Teresa! Do we ever miss her!!! She would go with Gavin and I to dr's appts, running errands, which we would seem to do almost everyday!!! I'm trying to get a lot accomlished before I start daycare again! Not to mention the 2-3 dr's appt's most weeks!!! LOL! They will end soon!!! We finally got a new stroller right after Aunt T left! It's so lightweight and easy to push!!

The Color Red and Another One :)

Gavin is getting SOO Big!!

These are pictures of Gavin at 3 days old and then 8 weeks old! Needless to say, this outfit no longer fits! He really likes his pig and cow toys on his carseat!!
